FLEX students on March CEW
“March Civic Education Week is certainly one to remember. When I was listening to other FLEX-ers who have been to the February one, saying how great their workshop was, I didn't quite believe them one week can be so life-changing and inspirational. But they were right!”
This March 7 of Polish FLEX Program students went to Washington D.C. for one week to learn firsthand about the U.S. values, federal system of government and other integral parts of American society and culture.
“This week exceeded all of my expectations. I've met so many great FLEX students from all over the world and made new friends (I hope these friendships will last a long time!). My favorite day was the Capitol Hill Day when we had a chance to meet the Senators and Representatives from our states. As I was the only FLEX student from Wyoming, I had an honor to have all the attention of Senators Enzi and Barrasso during our meeting. It made me realize how proud I am of Poland and how great it is to share your story. Exploring Capitol Hill was very exciting as we got our gallery passes which let us listen to Senate and House sessions.”
“Throughout the whole week our schedule was extremely packed so we could see all the best of D.C. and participate in fascinating panels on many topics. These panels inspired many people (including me). Educating on diplomatic careers was my favorite panel -- we had a chance to meet great American diplomats from the State Department and also people who are responsible for the FLEX program. It opened my eyes for new exciting career possibilities. I still can't believe CEW's over. It was definitely a highlight of my whole exchange.”
