"The Civic Education Workshop has come to an end. It was an amazing time to grow from as a person.”

The Civic Education Workshop is a one-week program in Washington, D.C. funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) for FLEX, YES, and CBYX students. The program provides an opportunity for students to gain a better understanding of some of the key concepts and values that are an integral part of U.S. society and culture. Participants learn firsthand about the U.S. federal system of government and other important concepts through seminar discussions, briefings, and meetings on Capitol Hill.

This February we were happy to see 3 of Polish FLEX Program students going to Washington D.C to take part in the workshops.

“That was a very busy but significant week. The workshops have had a huge impact on our lives and exchange! We visited the memorials, many astonishing museums, heard amazing lectures, and learned much more about the U.S. government system.”

“We got an amazing opportunity to visit Capitol Hill and to meet up with Representatives of our States and their staff members. Many wonderful meetings with diplomats helped us decide where we want to see ourselves in the future. It was our great pleasure to share our experience and represent Poland at the Department of State.”

Although the CEW week has ended, for us, it is just a beginning. We made friendships all over the world and learned incredibly precious things. Now, we are ready to be the change and implement the knowledge that we gained in our local communities - a lesson learned is indeed a lesson shared!
