First delegations - Open World Program

On August 10, 2022, the first Polish delegations flew to the United States as part of the Open World Program, which is sponsored by the US Congress, led by the Congressional Office for International Leadership, and implemented by the American Councils for International Education.

The delegation’s visit to the United States lasts 10 days and is intended to contribute to the exchange of ideas and knowledge with people who work in the same areas socially or professionally. The main topics of the August delegations were: integrating refugees and displaced persons, mental health and counseling, and Polish as a second language.

The first two days delegates spent in Washington, D.C., where they met with representatives of the Congressional Office for International Leadership, attended presentations on American culture and American federalism, and took part in a guided tour of the US capital.

The next part of the visit took place in local communities in the states of Alabama, Virginia, and New York, where the delegates were welcomed by local host organizations and hosted by American families with whom they shared Polish culture, history, and traditions. Local organizations prepared numerous training courses and meetings that corresponded to the professional interests of the delegates, and their aim was to explore specific issues and exchange experiences with people who work in the same professional field in the United States.

In the coming days, the delegates are returning to Poland. We hope that the knowledge and experience gained during the 10-day visit will bring great results in the further professional work of the delegates, and the established contacts will contribute to the development of cooperation between Poland and the United States.
